Budget consultation 2027/28
Overview
Have your say on the budget priorities and spend levels for Warwickshire County Council.
Council services are a vital part of everyday life for all of us. Right now, the county council is facing serious financial challenges, driven by rising costs and increasing demand. More residents than ever are relying on services such as education, children's and adult social care, and support for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These pressures mean we must make some difficult decisions to ensure we can continue providing the services our communities depend on.
The Government has announced a review of the local government reorganisation programme, including decisions made in July 2026. This means the final timing and arrangements for Local Government Reform in Warwickshire are currently uncertain. The Council will continue to plan responsibly for 2027/28 while taking account of any further Government announcements.
Purpose of this consultation
This consultation seeks your views on the importance of local services and your views on how the Council can best maintain a balanced budget for the financial year 2027/28. We are also asking for your suggestions on where savings and/or efficiencies could be made given that funding is limited and demand pressures acute.
This consultation is not asking residents to set the Council’s budget or make final decisions about spending and savings. Those decisions remain the responsibility of elected councillors, who will take account of legal duties, financial advice, service pressures and the funding available.
We are asking for your views so public feedback can be considered alongside other evidence when the Council develops its budget proposals for 2027/28. Your responses will help us understand which services matter most to residents, where people may have concerns, and where there may be ideas for doing things differently, making savings or generating income.
Before responding to this consultation, you may find it useful to read the following: (These links will open in a new tab or window).
- 2026/27 Council Tax leaflet
- Medium-Term Financial Strategy report which went to Cabinet on 16th July 2026.
Your feedback will inform budget decisions. All responses are confidential, and the consultation will run from 5th October to 1st November 2026.
Why your views matter
We are committed to listening to your views. A summary of responses will inform budget options ahead of all councillors meeting to discuss and agree the final budget, including the Council Tax level, on 4th February 2027.
