Earlswood Lakes – The Causeway Trial Closure

Overview

The Causeway (the three roads around the lakes comprising the end of Malthouse Lane and Valley Road) is a unique feature of Earlswood Lakes. Currently it serves as a single-lane road, which can create conflicts between vehicles, pedestrians, anglers, equestrians and cyclists.

We are exploring an 18‑month trial closure of The Causeway to general traffic, turning it into a safer, quieter route for people using Earlswood Lakes, while maintaining emergency and essential access through controlled arrangements. Your views will help shape whether and how this trial goes ahead.

The interactive map and plan below show the location.

Map shows The Causeway, Earlswood Lakes and Valley Road to indicate location of proposed 18-month trial closure. It highlights three entry / exit routes - one where Malthouse Lane crosses the lake and two where each end meets Valley Road.
