Closed 4 Jan 2016

Opened 19 Oct 2015

Results updated 19 Jan 2018

Public consultations were carried out on the Minerals Plan – Preferred Option and Policies 2015 (consultation dates: 19th October 2015 – 4th January 2016). We received a high number of responses – thank you for your comments.

In May 2015, we also consulted on two additional sites (Shawell and Ryton-on-Dunsmore) that had been submitted by promoters/landowners for consideration as part of the Preferred Options Consultation – (consultation dates: 5th May 2016 – 17th June 2016).

We have taken into account comments received on both consultations and will upload these comments on our Minerals Website in due course.

A summary of consultation will be tabled along with the Report and the revised Minerals Plan on 6th October Warwickshire County Council Cabinet. The report will seek approval to consult on the Publication (Pre Submission Draft) of the Minerals Plan for a period of 6 weeks at the end of October 2016.

Overview

Consultation under Regulation 18 Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012

Following the consultation on the Minerals Core Strategy – Revised Spatial Options and a call for sites the County Council has produced a draft plan for consultation: Warwickshire Minerals Plan – Preferred Option and Policies.

The new Warwickshire Minerals Plan will set out the locational strategy for where new mineral development should be located and the policies that will guide new minerals development during the period 2017 to 2032. It will also identify suitable land for the working of sand and gravel.

When it is eventually adopted, it will replace the ‘saved policies’ in the Minerals Local Plan (1995).

The new draft Plan is supported by other documents including a Local Aggregates Assessment and a Sustainability Appraisal Report that assesses the sustainability of the draft Plan and the alternatives that we considered in its preparation.

You can inspect a copy of the documents at the County Council’s Offices, Shire Hall in Warwick, at the principal offices of the 5 local District and Borough Councils and at all the libraries in Warwickshire.

Why your views matter

The County Council invites you to comment on the draft Plan and the other related documents.

When the consultation has finished, the County will consider all the comments that it has received and may make changes to the draft plan before it is put before an independent inspector at an examination – in – public.
