Local Transport Plan (LTP) - Key themes consultation

Closed 18 Mar 2021

Opened 21 Jan 2021

Feedback updated 4 Oct 2021

We asked

We asked you to tell us what the priorities should be for transport in Warwickshire in terms of “Key Themes”. We suggested the themes of Wellbeing, Environment, Place and Economy and asked you to give us your feedback regarding what these mean to you, whether they are suitable themes and whether any additions should be made.

You said

Over 700 of you responded and a further 29 Warwickshire residents, representative of the county as a whole, were invited to take part in a citizens’ panel.

There was considerable support for the four key themes proposed and more detailed feedback regarding their relative priority when compared to each other.

There was very little suggestion that any of the proposed themes should be removed or that any additional themes should be considered.

We did

We reported these findings to our Cabinet in September 2021. At that meeting Cabinet approved the drafting of a proposed Local Transport Plan based around the themes of Wellbeing, Environment, Place and Economy.

A new Local Transport Plan will now be drafted in detail with a view to further formal consultation in 2022

All feedback has been analysed and a copy of the survey analysis report is available below. We are now considering this as we start to develop a draft LTP4.

Next steps and key dates: We will report on the findings of the consultation to Cabinet in September where a decision will be made with regards to the creation of Warwickshire’s next LTP. There will then be further opportunities to offer feedback and respond to consultations as the LTP is further developed.

Further updates will be available on this webpage in due course.

Overview

Warwickshire County Council is in the process of updating the current Local Transport Plan (LTP), which is a document that sets out the transport needs, challenges, priorities and objectives for the county.

An LTP sets policies to shape future transport schemes and developments within the County. It allows us, as the County Council, to channel resources to deliver a transport network that gives people who live and work in Warwickshire access to the facilities they need to go about their daily lives.

The video below and consultation brochure at the bottom of this page provide more information for you to consider.

Why your views matter

The current LTP3 covers the period from 2011 to 2026, but it has become outdated and is hard to navigate. We need to update the LTP to meet the challenges and opportunities of the changing world we live in.

We are at the early stages of updating the LTP (known as LTP4) and although it will not be published until  2022, we would like your input now to help us determine the priorities which the plan should address. We are consulting on the four main themes, which are described in this questionnaire, along with some of the key benefits and issues associated with each theme.

We will consider all the information from this consultation as we progress with developing LTP4. Your feedback will help us work towards developing a transport plan that reflects the views of the local community and wider stakeholders.

Once we have developed a draft LTP4 there will be further opportunity for you to share your views on this detailed document draft during another public consultation. We anticipate further details on progress and consultation will be published later in 2021.
