Suicide Bereavement Service Survey

Overview

Coventry and Warwickshire currently commission a suicide bereavement service, Amparo. Amparo provides emotional and practical support for anybody who has felt the impact of suicide through:

• Support with coronial process e.g. inquest, police investigation
• Support with benefits and entitlements e.g. probate, closing accounts
• Emotional and psychological support e.g. advocacy and support around communicating with family and friends
• On-going flexible 1:1 support
• Signposting to SOBS (survivors of bereavement by suicide)
• Partnering with NHS agencies to offer best care and support
• Assessing each client based on their needs and offering appropriate support
• Setting support (workplaces, schools, professional settings)

To achieve this, Amparo works closely with lots of other agencies including GPs and pharmacies, hospital services, mental health services and coroner teams.

Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council would like your help in getting feedback on the suicide bereavement service and the needs of the local community in relation to bereavement by suicide. This feedback will support our intention to recommission this service in 2024.

Your feedback will be part of the process to improve and redesign the service so it meets the needs of Coventry and Warwickshire residents.

 We would like, in particular, to hear from:

• people who have been bereaved by suicide who have accessed Amparo
• People who have been bereaved by suicide who have not accessed Amparo
• Anyone who would like to share their views of the suicide bereavement service
