Consultation on the proposal to increase the capacity of Chetwynd Junior School

We asked

Warwickshire County Council undertook a statutory consultation to increase the capacity of Chetwynd Junior School from 3FE to 4FE (an additional 120 places).  The consultation took place between 29 September 2025 and 26 October 2025.

You said

A total of 39 responses were received during the consultation period. 8% of respondents agreed with the proposal and 5% provided a neutral response. 87% of respondents disagreed with the proposal to increase capacity.

We did

Results of the consultation and recommendation were presented to Cabinet on 11 December 2025.  Cabinet approved the proposal to expand Chetwynd Junior School to 4FE and recommended to Council its addition to the Education Capital Programme.

Overview

Warwickshire County Council is proposing to increase the capacity of Chetwynd Junior School, Nuneaton.  

The proposal is outlined as follows:

  • To increase the capacity of Chetwynd Junior School by 120 pupils. This would mean Chetwynd School would move from a three form entry (3FE) junior school (360 pupils) to a four form entry (4FE) junior school (480 pupils).

This consultation is being undertaken to advise you of the proposal to expand Chetwynd Junior School from a three form entry junior school to a four form entry junior school and to invite you to tell us what you think of the proposal. This is part of a statutory consultation process that Warwickshire County Council is managing in partnership with the Governing Body.

We welcome your views on the proposal and all viewpoints will be taken into account as part of the decision-making process.
