Proposal to extend the age range and increase capacity at High Meadow Infant School Consultation
Results updated 13 Feb 2018
This consultation considered the proposal to make the following changes at High Meadow Infant School
- To extend the age range of the school from 5 to 7 years old to 5 to 11 years old
- To increase the capacity at High Meadow Infant School from 90 pupils to 210 pupils. The published admission number (PAN) will remain the same at 30.
High Meadow Infant School is the only infant school in the planning area. There are five primary schools in the planning area, and at present parents have to apply for a place in year 3 at Coleshill CofE Primary as though they were applying for a junior school. As this is not the ‘natural’ entry point for a primary school a year 3 place for High Meadow Infant School pupils cannot be guaranteed at Coleshill Primary School.
The consultation concerned the statutory process of extending the age range of the school and increasing the capacity from 90 to 210. This proposal would require some changes and extensions to the school building. However, this would be subject to a separate process linked to the submission of an application for planning permission.
Outcome
Feedback from the consultation was presented to Warwickshire County Council Cabinet on 9th November 2017. The proposal was approved by Cabinet and will be implemented from September 2019. Increasing the age range at High Meadow Infant School would mean in September 2019 year 2 pupils would retain a place at High Meadow Infant until the end of year 6 making this a primary school with the pupils benefiting from the continuity of teaching and learning.
