Proposal to increase capacity at Campion School Consultation

Results updated 13 Feb 2018

The proposal to increase capacity at Campion School was put forward to accommodate the forecast pressure on secondary school places in the Warwick and Leamington area from September 2019.  This is due to larger cohorts of primary age pupils moving through into secondary and the impact of large scale housing development in the area.

The consultation was undertaken as part of the statutory process of increasing the capacity of the school in year groups 7 to 11 from 775 to 1,050.  This proposal would require some changes and extension to the school building.  However, this would be subject to a separate process and linked to the submission of an application for planning permission.

Feedback from the consultation was presented to Warwickshire County Council Cabinet on 9th November 2017.  The proposal was approved by Cabinet and will be implemented from September 2019.

This is part of a statutory consultation process that Warwickshire County Council is managing in partnership with the Governing Body. The proposal is:

To increase the capacity at Campion School from just over 5 forms of entry to 7 forms of entry from September 2019. From September 2019, the published admission number (PAN) will increase from 155 to 210 with each incoming year 7 cohort, meaning the overall capacity of the school in year groups 7 to 11 will gradually rise from 775 to 1,050 pupils.
